OBJECTIVE

To award $1000.00 scholarships to four deserving high school students of DoDDS-Korea, who have not received a larger scholarship from another source.

 

VISION

 

The Non-Commissioned Officers Association, Dragon Hill Chapter #1507, offers competitive scholarships to eligible students who have not / will not receive a larger scholarship from another source.  All potential applicants who meet the minimum eligibility criteria outlined below are strongly encouraged to apply, however, applicants or scholarship nominees who are later notified that they have been selected to receive a larger scholarship from another source will be required to withdraw their application.  The scholarship will then be awarded to the next name on the order of merit list.

  

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicant must be the child of a United States military enlisted service member or the child of a member of the Non-Commissioned Officers Association, Dragon Hill Chapter, and be a student in good standing in a DoDDS high school in Korea. 

  • Applicant must be a High School Senior and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.

  • Applicant must have performed a minimum of 40 hours of community/volunteer service during their Junior / Senior year in School.  Substantiating documentation must be provided.

  • Application deadline is 1 April of each year.

 INSTRUCTIONS & APPLICATION PACKET FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS

 

The information you furnish will aid in determining the award of a scholarship.  All scholarship applications must be submitted with all requested information and related documents attached. Incomplete applications or applications submitted without requested documents will not be considered by the Non-Commissioned Officers Association, Dragon Hill Chapter scholarship selection committee.  Please ensure each item listed below is included in the submitted packet: 

  • A brief autobiography (not more then 250 words) with a closing paragraph on “Why I want to go to college”.
  • A letter of recommendation from an educator (who is not a relative) at your school (i.e., principal, teacher, guidance counselor).
  • A personal letter of recommendation from an adult who is not a relative or educator at your current school.
  • A certified copy of your high school transcript.
  • A copy of your ACT / SAT scores.
  • Documentary evidence of your community/ volunteer service from the community/ volunteer organization assisted.
